After a death in Cobb County
- To reach the investigator assigned to a loved one's case, call the main office at 770-528-2200 (Option 6 if you do not know the investigator's name) or email with the decedent's name and date of death.
- The office posts an Authorization to Release form (English and Spanish) and a list of funeral homes for information only; it does not endorse or recommend any business.
- All business other than reporting a new death must be done during office hours.
The medical examiner's role before a cremation
- In Georgia, for a death reportable to the coroner or medical examiner, the disposition permit for cremation is issued (only in the county of death) after the county coroner or medical examiner approves.
